An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Phlebotomy Drive Through based at The Northern General Hospital, part of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology (SYBP) Partnership, for a Band 3 SYBP Phlebotomist. Please note, this role will predominantly involve working 37.5 core hours per week. However, there may be a requirement to spread these hours between 07:30 – 17:30, Monday to Saturday. As an integral part of the Phlebotomy team, you will have a key role in supporting SYB patients by providing a blood sample collection service predominantly based at the Northern General Hospital Phlebotomy Drive Through. The department provides a drive-in service for patients to have their bloods taken by our highly skilled Phlebotomists via venepuncture. The department also provides an outreach community phlebotomy service to housebound patients and utilises Point of Care Testing devices where appropriate. Working for our organisation

Education and Qualifications
GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above or some laboratory experience Willingness to complete an in-house competency package and additional skills training equivalent to A level/NVQ Level 3 or NVQ level 2 with recognised additional short courses (e.g. Venepuncture training, clinicalskills.net) or extensive experience in Phlebotomy/Venepuncture Willingness to undertake training and competency assessment to perform clinical patient observations Phlebotomy training course/previous evidence of competence. Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy Understanding of job content Ability to work with other colleagues to improve and develop working practices Experience with a range of laboratory techniques/working with a variety of venepuncture equipment or relevant transferrable experience in a clinical environment Previous experience within the NHS.
