This opportunity to transfer your skills is with one of the UK’s leading forensic engineering consultancies. Under the mentorship of their head of civil and structural engineering, you will receive training in conducting forensic investigations and how to identify the root cause of civil and structural engineering failures. The work will encompass transportation and development infrastructure, heavy civil engineering, and building-related topics. This is a role for a civil/structural engineer with a consulting engineering background who wants to apply their existing knowledge to a new sector. You will become a leader in your field, and when fully experienced, be called upon as an expert witness during litigation. The forensic sector differs from the construction industry; it is not tender-driven or as exposed to economic cycles. Career prospects are excellent, as is the earning potential in this high-margin business. Your role will involve investigating failures affecting a range of civil and structural engineering assets. You will consider the implications of the design, construction methodology, materials, loadings, environmental issues, and location. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will work closely with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal representatives. Your findings, which will identify the cause of the failure, will take the form of a report that can be understood by those from a non-technical background while being able to withstand scrutiny from legal, insurance, and technical professionals. Profile Required:

You should be a degree qualified civil engineer with a good academic background. If not already a chartered civil engineer, you should be close to sitting your chartered professional review. The role provides exceptional variety and a constant stream of fresh challenges. Good lateral thinking skills are essential.
