Salary: GBP550 - GBP590 per day + Inside of IR35 Contract: Kubernetes Engineer Start Date: ASAP Location: UK - Fully Remote Duration: 6 months extendable Day Rate: £550 - £590 per day Inside of IR35 Reference: 18315 Our client is looking to migrate its on-prem Hadoop-based data and analytics capability to a Kubernetes-based infrastructure.

They already have a Kubernetes platform (the Internal Kubernetes Platform or IKP) but this is focused on the support of microservices/mesh applications.

They require a large batch processing Kubernetes platform. Role Define a “Kubernetes batch” stack Review the architecture of our existing IKP with a view to reuse components for Kubernetes batch. Help deploy such a platform and build/test automation scripts. Assist in debugging network, storage, and security errors. Implement a secret management solution. Skills Required Minimum 3-4 years of hands-on Kubernetes experience Experience with multiple K8S distributions – at least 2 distros. Knowledge of GKE desirable. Experience with data lakes/data warehousing Strong understanding of Kubernetes Security Able to navigate through CNI and CSI configurations/issues. Experience with Helm charts and Operators Hands-on experience in containerizing applications – Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Grafana, etc. Strong Linux skills including basic administration skills. Ansible and Terraform experience. Strong Kubernetes experience, including implementation, architecture, and migration. K8S, Spark S3 Engine Terraform Ansible CI/CD Hadoop Linux/RHEL – on-prem background/container management Grafana or Elasticsearch – for observability Observability – OpenTelemetry Argo Other Skills Required Strong communication skills are essential as is experience in running a technical development/support team. Analytical approach to problem resolution. Enthusiastic about Big Data technologies, proactive learner. Comfortable with agile planning methods. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Intellectually curious. Willing to try out solutions. Perseverant in the face of adversity.
