Be proactive in understanding the competition and take action to minimize the loss of market share Determine pricing strategies for products/suppliers based on market reviews, competitor positions, supplier financials, etc. Fully understand supplier cost structure and logistics costs. Ensure intake business margin is maintained and proactively improved season on season Be innovative and open to forecast upcoming trends Familiarize with both local and overseas market situations and trends Source newness and maintain a leading position in the market of products in its own category Actively create and use collaborations/exclusives to grow business overall Ensure timely delivery of merchandise and ensure consistent quality and quantity Monitor sell-through and deliveries of all vendors and take decisive action to deal with their performance Drive continuous range planning and execution of sales and stock targets Work closely with internal stakeholders and Marketing to deliver the correct image to the end customer Manage the business relationship with the suppliers involved in their business category Provide accurate knowledge and information to sales staff Train sales staff in all aspects of their merchandise Demonstrate and reinforce the NET-A-PORTER Vision and Values Identify and execute ways to increase team member’s loyalty, satisfaction and pride Reinforce the company message to the team and drive profitability Provide on-the-job coaching to ensure that the direct reports are able to meet and exceed the requirements of the role Identify and facilitate opportunities for additional training for the team Monitor and review performance of direct reports Take appropriate corrective action with team members who fall below standard Complete and present performance appraisals based on defined goals and objectives The type of person we are looking for: Significant, demonstrable experience operating at Buyer level within a multibrand, luxury retail environment Good understanding of the Fine Jewellery and Watches industry Proven commercial experience of trading in a fast-paced and reactive environment. Proven track record of creating positive impact on business through buying strategy. Proven track record of networking and negotiation skills.
