About the role: Horsham District Council is looking for a Senior Accounts Payable Officer to be responsible for the processing of accounts payable payments, ensuring operations are timely, efficient and comply with Council procedures and risk management policies. As a Senior Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for payments to the Council’s suppliers and ensure the smooth running of operations and compliance with Council procedures. You will also be responsible for the weekly processing of creditor payments ensuring the integrity of the Accounts Payable system. Additionally, you will manage the administration of the information regarding the Construction Industry Scheme, Domestic Reverse Charge mechanism and HMRC’s IR35 in accordance with regulations. You will be assisted by junior staff whom you will direct in day-to-day work. As part of the overall finance team, you will be expected to contribute to overall finance team objectives. This post is part-time and the hours of work can be flexible. Hybrid working is standard for this role. About you: To succeed as a Senior Accounts Payable Officer, you will have experience of financial systems in a complex multifunctional organisation, preferably in accounts payable, and have an understanding of computerised purchase ordering and invoicing functions. You will also possess good organisational and multitasking skills and be able to work accurately and to deadlines, prioritising as you go. Good customer care skills and the ability to communicate with a range of people from different backgrounds, including ethnic, social and professional, both verbally and in writing, is essential. A Grade 4/C or above in both GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent, is also essential. To succeed in this role, you will be a proactive individual constantly looking for and working on improvements to the processes you oversee to support the development of the finance function.
