Community Occupational Therapist (Physical) Band 6 Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives through physical rehabilitation when discharged home from hospital? What about an opportunity to support the Ambulance services via an Urgent Care Response referral? North Bedfordshire is looking for a full-time band 6 Occupational Therapist to work within the 7-day service 8am-9pm. You need to be responsive, have strong assessment skills with a personalised approach for a wide range of needs/conditions. You will then develop, implement, manage and review the planned recommendations. You will need skills in moving and handling, risk assessing and identifying solutions to reduce risk. You will work closely alongside all members of the therapy team, as well as the wider multi-disciplinary workforce across Bedfordshire, building close links with professionals and services required to wrap around the needs of each individual to provide a holistic approach. You will line manage and supervise unqualified staff within the team, supporting them to provide an excellent level of service to the local population. There is also an expectation to support student placements. All applicants should hold a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy and be registered with HCPC. Main duties of the job

Education/Qualification/Training

BSc Occupational Therapy Degree or Diploma HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist Clear record of postgraduate experience Significant and relevant postgraduate experience Experience

Experience of a broad range of physical conditions, treatment techniques and intervention Core rehabilitation skills Experience of working with adult clients with primarily physical illness or disability Experience of working within the community Experience of working within the NHS Knowledge and Skills

Detailed understanding of a wide range of physical medical conditions Knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions that affect physical conditions Ability to lead and motivate others Provide advice/support on clinical issues to other agencies as required Good team player and leader Ability to work autonomously and manage a complex and varied caseload Ability to analyse results of assessments and arrange/change OT interventions accordingly Able to demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity Work and carry out assessments in clients' homes Fit and demonstrate the use of equipment Work with clients, families, carers and other professionals of those that are terminally ill Support clients with severe long-term conditions causing distress to themselves and/or their family/carers Have an understanding of Sepsis and other sudden, potentially critical onset conditions Disclosure and Barring Service Check
