About the Crisis Assessment Treating Team Service
We are an integrated component of Austin Health’s Mental Health program, and we pride ourselves on being consumer recovery focused. NECATS provides highly skilled clinical assessment and treatment options and works closely with local service providers and other specialist mental health services. This is an interesting and varied position working in the areas of Crisis Assessment Team, Telephone Triage, Emergency Psychiatry Service (Emergency Dept.) and PACER (Police and Clinician Emergency Response) on a 24/7 rotating roster.
About the role
As a Senior Mental Health Clinician, you will be working across the 4 roles of CATTS primarily provide an intensive outreach and/or in reach mental health service to high-risk people, as well as their families and wider service systems within the Austin Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Service catchment. You'll work collaboratively with CATT clinicians and the broader AOAMHS staff and teams, to support people in their own environment and who are at risk of harm.
A regular day will see you:
Deliver high quality care for consumers
Provide direct service in the clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of people and families utilising individual outreach approaches
Complete a high standard of accurate and timely clinical and operational documentation and data entry in a timely and efficient manner, and in accordance with AOAMHS standards of documentation and relevant professional/mental health sector statutory requirements
About you
You will be someone with excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, who takes a supportive team approach to their work. You'll have strong organisational and time management skills, as shown by a dynamic and flexible approach to time and workload management.
To be successful in this role you will bring with you:
A relevant professional qualification in a health-related discipline (mental health nurse, social work, occupational therapy or clinical psychology) and current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) with 5 - 7 years' experience (discipline dependant) in a clinical mental health setting, engaging in enhanced mental health/ risk assessment and management, well developed communication skills, networking, and interpersonal skills (refer to position description).
Minimum years of clinical experience for a senior role according to the Enterprise Agreement, specific to experience with children and young people within a tertiary mental health setting (refer to position description).
Specialist assessment and brief crisis intervention skills
Knowledge of recovery and collaborative clinical practice including complex crisis assessments
Ability to network with stakeholders and carers
Ability to participate in quality improvement activities
