Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a Sheffield based manufacturer, specialising in forgings, casting and machining, who are looking for an experienced Applications Engineer to join the team.

Based in Metrology, the successful candidate for this role will be leading the way in NPI and legacy products, ensuring consistency and accuracy within the day to day manufacture of components.

As the Applications Engineer (Metrology) you will: Deliver on Metrology portion for Manufacturing Readiness for assigned programs, so planned jobs are ready to run effectively on schedule. Ensure completion of tasks either by execution or work of other team members. Be accountable for measurement system planning, development, and work with quality on validation for assigned programs. This includes FAIR, PPAP, equipment selection (including capacity), fixturing, CMM programs, gauges, documentation, and other supporting elements to ensure a thorough and capable process at launch. Research new equipment to support product and program needs, providing justification as part of program for approval and then planning execution within program framework (CAPEX). Lead Metrology and Continuous improvement activity – partnering with quality team, ensuring measurement systems are in place and meet or exceeding process requirements. Partner with customer or internal design teams on FMEA inputs as well as working with outputs. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for the Applications Engineer (Metrology) role, you will need: Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing) preferred or equivalent 5+ years’ experience in a similar role. Experience in CMM programming (Zeiss Calypso / PCDMIS / Mcosmos). Experience in optimizing processes, programs and cycle times. Grasp of manufacturing engineering fundamentals – engineering drawing and specification interpretation, GD&T, Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFMA), and process documentation. Working knowledge and expertise in new product and process introduction (NPPI) and validation (PPAP, FAIR, PFMEA/DFMEA, MSA, etc). Experience in medical or aerospace environments are ideal. Basic lean and/or industrial engineering knowledge and experience – process flow, equipment and line layout. Experience with problem solving and driving root cause solutions (8D, DMAIC, etc) and coaching others. Knowledge of measurement systems and process capability. Significant experience in planning, and executing manufacturing projects such as NPI, CAPEX, product transfers, etc. Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing is a specialist recruitment consultancy dealing with engineering, technical and operational positions in Yorkshire and the surrounding regions.
