The role of a medical secretary is to be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the clinical and administration team. Duties can include but are not limited to, the processing of information (electronic & hard copy) in a timely manner, liaising with departments and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers in accordance with current policies, including the use of the electronic referral system. The medical secretary is expected to be a team player, act with integrity always and lead by example with reference to promoting excellence in customer service, communication with patients, equality and diversity and patient confidentiality. Main duties of the job

Providing a full secretarial service for all GPs and health professionals as required. This mainly includes sending referrals via eRS and email, using Ardens templates and formatting letters, reports, and any other correspondence in an accurate and timely manner. Dealing with hospital, clinical, patient and practice queries via phone and email regarding hospital appointments, correspondence and treatments. Following up GP requests for information. Managing advice & guidance provided. Maintaining the computer based clinical system in an accurate and secure manner. Maintaining an accurate referrals database. Performing any tasks requested by the practice manager. About us

Dr Yasin Surgery is an established practice in South Ockendon, we are a small expanding team with a growing number of patients. We consist of 2 GPs and a regular clinical support team, along with very supportive administration and reception teams. Job responsibilities

Medical Secretarial role applicants must be able to process medical referral letters. Have excellent written English and grammar with the ability to adapt letters for clinicians. Be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes. Secretarial qualifications or secretarial background is an advantage. Person Specification

GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths Prior knowledge and experience in SystmOne Disclosure and Barring Service Check
