University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279)

There is an opportunity to join the critical care team in Brighton as a band 5 nurse. If you have some acute experience, substantial experience on an acute ward, and you would like a new challenge, then critical care could be for you. There is a clear education programme and teaching for our new starters. You will be given at least 5 weeks supernumerary and will have 5 study days over the first 5 weeks. Once this is completed, you have a national workbook called the steps 1 to complete. During this time, you will learn to look after the most critically unwell patients in the hospital. You will be supported by your team leader and practice educator and will have regular coaching shifts. If you are keen to further your studies in a supportive environment, then this is a great opportunity. We expect a level of commitment from the team, including some self-directed studying, and the job involves a rotation of days and nights. The roster is flexible, but the safety of the unit is key, and therefore nights are an essential part of the roster. The job is based in Brighton in a new unit with excellent facilities, but can involve some rotations to our sister site in Haywards Heath. Main duties of the job

To plan, provide and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for the critically ill patient under the supervision of Band 6 and Band 7 critical care nurses.
