South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust

This is a one-year appointment designed to allow the post-holder to gain additional experience in General Surgery/Urology prior to applying for an ST3 post. Applicants would be expected to have completed or be working towards MRCS. The post-holder will have the opportunity to continue developing their surgical skills and to participate in quality improvement and teaching within the department. Main Duties of the Job

This post works as part of a combined surgical rota. The post-holder will be expected to work in their own specialty (General Surgery/Urology) during the normal working day shift and hold the on-call bleep for both specialties when on call (long day/weekend day/night shifts). About Us

Come and join a Trust rated Outstanding by the CQC. South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust has been rated as outstanding following our latest inspection by the CQC, and we are recruiting new staff to help us improve even further. Our staff survey results have placed us 4th in the country for recommended places to work. We provide services across Warwickshire and beyond, ranging from Hospitals in Warwick, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Royal Leamington Spa, and Shipston-on-Stour to Community Services across the county. We are a progressive, expanding organisation with great ambition around improving quality, integrating pathways, and delivering high levels of productivity. Our values can be summed up in one sentence: We are 'Trusted to provide safe, inclusive, effective, and compassionate care'. Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked to think about how you demonstrate these values and how they impact your work. Job Responsibilities

Opportunities are available to attend day surgery and main theatre lists, as well as out-patient clinics. Previous junior trainees have been able to obtain a good number of cases for their logbooks, and some have been able to learn to perform flexible cystoscopy or upper GI endoscopy. Person Specification

Professional Experience

At least 1 year of General Surgery/Urology experience. Cross-cover experience or direct experience of working in other Surgical Specialties (such as ENT, Orthopaedics, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology). Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
