This is an exciting time!! We are recruiting for registered mental health nurses to support our clinical teams in the Trust. The post holder will support patients who require specialist mental health input in the clinical areas. The post holder will be essential in promoting parity of esteem between mental and physical health in the general hospital setting and must demonstrate excellent communication skills while providing advice, support, and information to patients with acute mental health needs. The post holder must have excellent nursing and risk assessment skills and a sound knowledge base of the legal frameworks that inform acute mental health care is essential including an understanding of mental health diagnoses and psychosocial interventions. The post holder must be highly motivated and flexible in an ever-changing environment and participate in mental health promotion. Main duties of the job

To deliver high-quality, effective, and individualised nursing care that is compassionate, caring, and aligned with evidence-based professional practice. To assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans without supervision. Maintaining a safe environment for patients. Collaborating across the multi-disciplinary team to ensure consistent and personalised care. Contributing to the daily activities and treatment programmes. To undertake mental health risk assessments and reduce vulnerable patients coming to harm. To provide clinical areas with mental health advice, support, and expertise. Working for our organisation

Qualifications

NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse Evidence of continued professional development Educated to degree level Leadership course/module or qualification Management course or qualification Experience

Experience working as an RMN post registration, demonstrating effective risk assessment and risk management experience Have an excellent understanding and experience in working with patients who have experienced psychological trauma, demonstrating trauma-informed care Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions Experience working with patients who may be confused or present with challenging behaviour Experience working in Adult’s and Children’s mental health inpatient settings Skills & Knowledge

Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, DOLS and other legislation applicable to the practice area Demonstrable knowledge of the post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for patients in the designated field, including specialist knowledge of co-morbidity (physical and mental health) about acute and chronic conditions Demonstrates excellent written and presentation skills Can demonstrate good understanding of clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice Able to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations Has participated in undertaking research and audit Special Requirements
