We are looking for an experienced, motivated nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse in the Geriatric Assessment Unit Ward. You must be able to work under pressure and have excellent communication and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job Duties will include: Coordination of the ward in close liaison with medical and bed management teams Support of staff, patients and relatives on the ward Management of a small team of staff including performing appraisals, sickness monitoring, performance management and training needs Involvement in teaching and the professional development of junior staff Taking on full Ward Manager duties in my absence

Desirable Degree in health related studies Completion of all local competency packages Formal leadership and management training Research and training experience

Experience Essential Supervision of non-registered, pre-registration and post-basic students Evidence of ability to mentor Ability to manage the clinical ward efficiently and effectively Communication skills - conveying sensitive information

Desirable Recent or current experience within the specialty Demonstrate involvement in link nurse or project work Audit and research within local area
