Database Administrator II

will be responsible for maintaining systems as defined and ensuring their ongoing availability. The Database Administrator II will take ownership for aspects of the Azure cloud and on-premise SQL Server RDBMS systems. The scope of responsibility is for the complete understanding and optimization for multiple database products at Accruent. Essential duties & responsibilities Provide operational support for multiple Accruent SAS Azure and SQL Server database products across multiple verticals and regions in a 24x7 Production and other managed environments. Must be on call 24x7 for one-week shifts in a SQL DBA rotation. Proactively monitor, analyze, and resolve database performance and other issues, and complete monthly product Environmental Health reports. Participate in cross-functional Tiger Teams to troubleshoot and resolve Production customer incidents, including root cause analysis. Complete customer request/trouble/change tickets and manage ticket queues in JIRA to meet SLAs. Create, update, and follow standard database process documents. Work with Product and Engineering to improve product functionality and performance. Participate in cross-functional and team projects, and complete assigned tasks as scheduled. Spec out and set up new database servers. Capacity planning and database server resource management. Perform SQL Server upgrades and database migrations as required. Implement standard security best practices, ensure SQL Server and database tools are up-to-date with the latest Cumulative Updates (CUs), and provide compliance information for audits. Develop and update product DR plans/runbooks and perform annual product DR tests. Complete required and optional on-the-job and online training to advance technical and process skills. Help train new DBAs. Consistently demonstrate Accruent’s values: results orientation, humility, winning attitude, drive to excellence, integrity, and grit. Knowledge, skills & abilities A minimum of 5 years of experience with SQL Server database administration using best practices. 2+ years of experience with native Azure SQL Database and/or Azure Managed Instance. 3+ years of experience with T-SQL and Powershell scripting. 2+ years of experience with industry standard SQL database monitoring and open-source tools. SQL Server and/or Azure database certifications are preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Performance tuning and query/index optimization. Critical technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of database design principles. Solid proficiency in database backup and recovery processes. Quickly learns new product platforms and database technologies. Ability to reason logically and participate in the development of innovative solutions. Proven self-starter, self-reliant, and capable of educating others. Project and task-oriented with attention to detail. Ability to work well on group or individual projects. Good verbal and written communication skills.
