Description We are currently looking for Engineers to join the Plant Structural Integrity department in Rolls-Royce Submarines. The Submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. As a Pipe Stress Engineer, you will play a supportive role in the design, manufacture and safety justification of Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP) pipework and components. Working closely with other teams and specialist functions, you will carry out ASME B&PVC Section III analyses of pipework systems and produce supporting technical substantiation reports. The work is interesting and varied; you will be relied upon to respond rapidly to emergent challenges, providing a vital service to the Submarines enterprise. The department also covers other forms of structural integrity assessment using FEA methods which presents further opportunity for development. What you will be doing : Working with transient specifications, pipework arrangement drawings, CAD models and fluid systems specifications to undertake ASME Section III NB and NCD pipework analyses. Producing pipework substantiation documentation in support of safety case development covering the whole plant life cycle. Developing and implementing methodologies to assess NSRP pipework systems. Communicating the method and outcome of assessments to a range of audiences within Rolls-Royce, industry partners and customer organisations. Responding to emergent issues, as part of a dynamic team, to support the fleet. Who we are looking for : Qualified to degree level, or with equivalent experience, in mechanical engineering, or similar discipline. Able to prioritise tasks and work effectively on multiple projects at the same time. Demonstrate interest and expertise in pipework structural integrity analysis. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of partner and customer functions. Previous experience as a pipe stress engineer within the nuclear industry. Familiarity with Autopipe Nuclear and/or pipestress (PepS) analytical software. Good IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data manipulation tools (e.g., Python and Excel). Experience of working in an industry where safety is a priority. Membership, or Associate Membership, of a relevant professional institution and working toward chartership.
