A multi-office Civil and Structural Consultancy are looking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer with at least 7+ years' design experience to their head office in Chorley.
The company are one of the best-known consultancies in the Lancashire area and are going through a growth phase, including the significant addition of a brand new Merseyside office in the past 12 months.
The Senior Structural Engineer will act as a key leader within the team, providing technical expertise, leadership, and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians. This role requires delivering high-quality structural designs while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Technical Responsibilities include:
Lead structural engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring successful delivery. Develop innovative and efficient designs using materials such as concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and associated geotechnical solutions (foundations, soils, and drainage). Produce accurate and high-quality designs, calculations, drawings, and technical reports that meet project requirements and are readily verifiable. Apply Eurocodes, British Standards, and current Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) regulations in all design work. Conduct thorough site investigations and inspections, addressing and resolving any structural issues promptly. Represent the company professionally at design team meetings and client reviews. Key Qualifications and Experience include:
Chartered Membership
of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and/or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) (preferred). Minimum
Bachelor's Degree
in Civil or Structural Engineering. Proven experience delivering structural engineering projects, particularly within the defence and nuclear sectors. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with a track record of team and project management success. Software capabilities include:
Proficient in 3D structural analysis and design software, ideally including: MasterSeries, SCIA, Tekla Structural Designer. AutoCAD and Revit. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques and software (preferred). Familiarity with industry-standard tools to streamline design and documentation workflows.
