Job Description
The Role
Make a significant contribution to Fastmarkets' Legal, Risk and Compliance team (LRC), developing strong expertise around the compliance control function. As part of the LRC team, you will be the compliance subject matter expert responsible for identifying and assessing risk and compliance-related vulnerabilities. You will lead and undertake internal control assurance activities across Fastmarkets to ensure that processes and controls are in line with internal policy and procedure as well as our regulatory requirements (IOSCO/BMR). Working alongside the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will help to shape the risk and compliance programme and have an impact in driving the programme across the firm.
The LRC function is led by the General Counsel who reports to the CEO. The team is viewed as a genuine business partner and as critical to helping the organisation deliver its strategy. The role provides exposure to Fastmarkets' senior leadership team and the opportunity to gain insight on risk and compliance matters that affect the current business landscape.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of Fastmarkets' Compliance programme
Participate in reviews, investigations and other compliance-monitoring activities
Complete compliance-assurance activities to ensure that processes are being followed in adherence with regulations and internal policies
Provide fit-for-purpose compliance support and providing compliance advisory services to Fastmarkets
Assist the Risk and Compliance function to update policies and procedures in line with evolving regulatory standards
Assist with risk and compliance queries from all areas of the business
Process trade-sanctions screening in line with Fastmarkets' trade-sanctions policy
Collaborate with different business functions to implement and update relevant compliance policies
Lead or participate in compliance-related projects and initiatives as well as providing guidance
Partner with the business to promote and embed the code of business conduct and management of risk
Identify, assess, document and regularly review operational risks alongside the business
Register risk events; manage and deliver risk incident reports
Create and review key risk indicators alongside business functions
Conduct risk and compliance assurance meetings with stakeholders
Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; implement corrective action and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
Collaborate with senior management and partner with business units to provide visibility into risk exposures and ensure alignment with risk appetite
Facilitate the continuous development of risk procedures, processes and tools to support a proactive risk management approach across the business
Deliver actionable insights on emerging risk areas for reporting, providing valuable input for decision-making at executive level
Facilitate and manage the insurance programme across Fastmarkets
Work alongside the business functions to evaluate potential threats to the organisation and implement policies and procedures that will help maintain operational business continuity during disruptive events

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, law or other finance-related discipline
5+ years of related experience within a risk or compliance role
Experience and knowledge in implementing and managing compliance programmes across an organisation
Knowledge of IOSCO and BMR preferred
Excellent communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail is essential
Commercial awareness and likes rolling up sleeves to 'do' and 'execute', not act as an 'advisor'
Independent, self-starter and problem-solver capable of working without close supervision or daily guidance, able to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure
Comfortable working in a small team with the confidence to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders
Skilled in influencing; capable of addressing complex matters with senior stakeholders
Ability to produce high-quality, concisely and clearly written documentation
Proven experience managing risk and control activities, including an understanding of operational risks
Numerate and computer-literate, including Excel
