Are you looking to progress to a Band 7 role specialising in Neurorehabilitation?

We are looking to recruit an aspiring or experienced SLT to join our integrated neurorehabilitation therapies team and speech & language therapy service across Pennine Lancashire. Working in a multidisciplinary team providing in-depth assessment and intensive, interdisciplinary intervention to a complex caseload of inpatients with neurological conditions.

We are excited to offer this new opportunity for an SLT ready to develop their clinical leadership in a highly specialist role. You will be a qualified and HCPC registered SLT and be able to demonstrate through application and interview experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia. A clear competency and capability framework is in place to support this transition post to ensure that your learning journey is reflective of you and your supervision, training, and development needs. The role will transition to Band 7 following completion of competencies within an agreed timeframe.

Rakehead Rehabilitation Centre is a purpose-built 17 bedded unit, with input from Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Psychologists, Rehab Assistants, a Rehab Consultant, and an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. The successful applicant will also be part of the integrated community neuro-rehabilitation team providing therapy to patients in community settings across Pennine Lancashire. You will work as part of an established and experienced SLT team who have a wealth of knowledge and experience to provide support.

Key Responsibilities:

To assess, treat, and manage a caseload of adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders relevant to highly specialist SLT skills. To use specialist knowledge to inform sound clinical judgements/decision making for case management. Providing operational and line management to a designated team in the delivery of a highly effective, safe, and personal service, delivered around the needs of individual patients/carers as described by agreed goals/outcome measures and within the SLT neuro rehab clinical pathway. The role will include teaching and the provision of highly specialist support in the management of complex conditions, educating other healthcare professionals and wider stakeholders. Offering training and support to less experienced SLTs and other staff. Participate in service improvement projects as the clinical lead. Engage in continual improvement initiatives embedded in daily work. Be an active member of the SLT leadership structure contributing toward the strategic operational and clinical development of the service.

You will join our experienced and supportive team of senior SLTs working within specialty groups in both the acute and community settings that include Neurology, Head and Neck Cancer, Voice, FEES, SLT led VFL, Stroke, and Community (progressive and long term disease/care home) and are overseen by a professional lead for SLT.

We host an annual SLT Showcase of best practice and SLT, Stroke and Neuro Improvement Showcase.

We are actively involved in a range of service and workforce initiatives across the Lancashire and South Cumbria ICS and research including collaborations with the Lancashire South Cumbria ICB and within ELHT including an AHP professorial post in Neurorehabilitation.
