About the role

Assessors undertake an important role in ensuring that only those who fulfil our ethical standards and meet our professional competency requirements become IOSH qualified professionals. In fulfilling this, Assessors are responsible for making informed judgements about the range of evidence a candidate may produce to demonstrate their competence to meet assessment criteria, and also for providing high quality candidate feedback reports. Assessments are critical to the success of admitting candidates to our membership grades and professional registration and for our processes to be successful and credible there are three core responsibilities of this role: To undertake assessments in a fair and inclusive way To maintain a consistent approach to assessments in line with IOSH assessment standards To make recommendations on assessment outcomes with high quality feedback reports. These activities will be undertaken under the direction of the IOSH Professional Development Lead and IOSH Senior Assessor. What you'll bring Knowledge Strong understanding of educational assessment requirements and processes Demonstrable understanding of OSH sector Skills and abilities Excellent organisation and planning skills Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills Excellent written communication skills Excellent listening skills Robust IT skills Exemplary record keeping and attention to detail, including working to defined processes and conditions Ability to meet agreed deadlines Self-assurance and ability to confidently ask questions Experience Demonstrable assessment marking experience, with IOSH or other Institution or Awarding Organisation Evidence of at least 3 years of working in an educational quality assurance role with knowledge of assessment and quality assurance principles Education Relevant subject expert, qualified to at least Level 6 in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Sector (Essential) A relevant and appropriate assessment qualification, or willingness to undertake a qualification (Essential) Hold Chartered Membership status with IOSH (Essential) Higher level qualification or evidence of further study About us The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the world’s Chartered body for safety and health professionals.
