MMP Consultancy is seeking a Building Surveyor to join a local authority in the South Hampshire area. This is a temporary position paying £29ph umbrella over a 37-hour working week.

As a Building Surveyor, you will work within a team supporting the Building Repairs Managers, ensuring that building repairs and voids services are delivered in line with our NEC3 term service contract. This includes managing contractor payments and audits, conducting surveys, and overseeing a wide range of planned repair projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Survey and assess the condition of a diverse range of assets, including corporate, operational, commercial, and community properties. Manage repair projects, including decoration, cladding, fire upgrades, window replacements, roofing, electrical work, extensions, and structural repairs (typically up to £15,000 per project). Work collaboratively within the team to support the delivery of the repairs service and mentor apprentices and junior surveyors. Liaise with a variety of stakeholders including residents, leaseholders, local councillors, and building users to ensure excellent communication and service delivery. Take responsibility for managing day-to-day repairs, planned maintenance, DFG works, and addressing complaints or legal claims. Use data and performance measures to assess the condition of assets and inform planned maintenance programmes. Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and customers, ensuring exceptional service. Provide advice and guidance on building legislation, contract law, and health and safety regulations.

What We're Looking For:

A degree or HNC in Building Surveying or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong knowledge of building construction technology, building pathology, and surveying principles. Experience managing contractors and working with NEC and JCT contracts. Knowledge of construction-related health and safety legislation (CDM 2015, asbestos, etc.) and the ability to coach others. Ability to undertake stock condition surveys and identify potential maintenance needs. Experience with public procurement procedures, cost estimation, and financial control. Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel and data management software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders and customers effectively. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as the role requires site visits.
