Job summary Consultant fellowships in Acute Medicine for up to 6 months. Consultant fellowships in Frailty for up to 6 months. Salary will be on the consultant scale for 10PAs. Part-time applications are welcomed. We are inviting applications for the above posts from all over the UK, to enable doctors who have completed training & wish to gain further experience within 2 top performing teams, according to GIRFT data, at consultant level prior to taking up substantive appointments. Applicants will be on the medical on call rota & will partake in service development & service improvement activity undertaken by the departments. It is anticipated that the posts will put candidates in a strong position to take up consultant posts with an aim to develop & lead services in the future. Consultants who wish to have short term secondments are also welcome & we would be happy to explore how this can be achieved on an individual basis. Main duties of the job Acute medicine: you will have sessions rotating through the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) & Emergency Department (ED). You will attend departmental meetings & other managerial meetings depending on requirements of the individual & opportunities. You will be expected to be part of the team delivering service improvement, which will be tracked & recorded for your portfolio. Frailty team: you will have sessions rotating through the Frailty SDEC, AMU, ED, Intermediate Care & Frailty ward. You will gain experience of Hospital at Home & working with the local ambulance teams as well as care homes & GPs. You will attend managerial meetings as available & appropriate. You will be expected to be part of the team delivering service improvement, which will be tracked & recorded for your portfolio. Qualifications and Experience Essential MRCP Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in general Medicine. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients. Experience of teaching / educational supervision. Full GMC Registration. Desirable A subspecialty interest. The directorate is interested in developing all services. Good leadership skills. Ability to teach and experience of teaching. Use of information and technology. Evidence of Accredited Clinical & Educational Supervision of Medical Learners. Academic achievements Essential Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision making.
