A caring and empathetic manner is essential. The challenging and rewarding work of community dentistry spans a wide range of services with opportunities to practice all clinical facets of dentistry including treatment under inhalation sedation and general anaesthesia in the hospital theatre setting. The post offers opportunities for training and development, and the clinician will work primarily in Guisborough, as well as within other clinics in the Teesside area. Please note : the post is currently based in Guisborough; however, it will also involve working at other Teesside facilities as per the needs of the service. Full registration with the General Dental Council is required. Although a postgraduate qualification is not essential, it would be considered an advantage. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will be an experienced dentist possessing the necessary skill, patience, and tact required in the provision of dentistry for adults and children with additional needs, as well as experience in delivering care under conscious sedation and general anaesthesia. Working within the Consultant led dental team, duties will include the treatment of children and adults with a range of additional needs encompassing physical, sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, emotional, or social impairment or disability, or a combination of these factors. The successful candidate will also be involved in supervising trainees and supporting the ongoing development of the wider dental team, as well as participating in the departmental audit programme. In addition, the successful candidate will assist the Community Dental Management Team with the administration, planning, and development within the department and wider organisation when required. About us At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high-quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience. We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition - a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars, and Service Awards. We support the Making Every Contact Count approach to behaviour change in the promotion of health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
