Role Description:

Reporting to the Site Services Manager, this role has responsibility for the direct management of the services team in the operation and maintenance of the Site Services element of the installed Asset base.

The role includes management and reporting of Energy/utility usage for the site and looks to ensure that best available techniques are applied in the area of energy generation, distribution, and waste and effluent disposal.

As a part of the Engineering function, this role will work with the site and strive to achieve optimal operational efficiency at the lowest cost through the delivery of targets against the strategic objectives of the function:

Work closely with the Site Services Manager, Engineering/Operational teams to support the delivery of an agreed manufacturing vision and strategy.

Safety, Quality, Hygiene:

Undertake duties in a responsible manner giving due consideration to Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures.

Ensure adherence to all H&S work procedures and policies e.g. Lock Off and Tag out and Use of the “Permit to Work” system.

Personally demonstrate safe behaviour and take responsibility for the management of health & safety of the engineering team and contractors.

Undertake accident and Near Miss Investigations.

Ensure areas achieve and maintain required GMP standards.

Operations Management:

To have responsibility for maintenance, spare parts, and efficient operation of utility equipment.

Work in partnership with Suppliers/Contractors to ensure the utilities are successfully delivered to the section; including day-to-day liaison, investigate problems, explore cost options, project prioritisation, support, and systems modification.

Conduct joint audits of service lines as described in outsourcing contract.

Create and implement plans enabling maintenance works to plant allowing for minimum disruption of manufacturing – liaise with Planning and Production Departments.

Complete relevant documentation / Record data in required formats.

Reporting data to required channels including anomalies to manager.

Site Services and Energy Management:

Support the management of all aspects of site services, ensure that statutory compliance is adhered to and performance standards are at such that best practice is applied for the environmental impact and continuity of supply for the site for everything that is not part of the direct Manufacturing process.

Work within a site services KPI framework to drive performance standards of Water, Air, Gas, Electricity, and Steam (WAGES).

Support the reduction of site utility consumption in line with Group targets.

Work with operational peer groups sharing best practice and providing advice and support as required.

Work within Group Energy strategy framework to drive continuous improvements in energy consumption and drive down the costs.

Role Requirements:

HNC caliber in a relevant engineering discipline, hands-on experience with a demonstrable track record of success in achieving results/managing change.

Strong utilities/compliance operational grounding within a complex fast-moving manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG background.

Understanding of SSOW.

Experience of managing teams.

Understands what good looks like in a manufacturing environment.

Operated and familiar with implementation of the principles of World Class Manufacturing environments/Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Good working knowledge of operating systems such as SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Good practical understanding of factory services (electricity, steam, compressed air, water, etc.).
