Pets at Home is looking for a dynamic and experienced Business Development Partner to join our team. As a Business Development Partner, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to our Company Owned practice leads and their teams. This position involves acting as a business coach, implementing strategic plans to achieve sales and profit growth ambitions, and building trusted relationships with colleagues and consumers. As a Business Development Partner, you will be the principal contact for the Practice Leaders in your area and you’ll be accountable for influencing and supporting the overall performance of their practices, with the aim of maximizing the commercial potential and achieving profitability. You’ll support around 10 practices and act as the link between the overall group strategy and tactical delivery. This will involve working closely with your Practice Leaders and key stakeholders from across the group including Field and Support Teams, Finance, People, Clinical Development, and Marketing. You’ll be a brand advocate who exemplifies the Pets at Home Vet Group’s values and recommends solutions to drive enhanced commercial and cultural performance in practice. Most importantly, you’ll play a leading role in, and get satisfaction from, seeing people and practices grow and develop. This role will require you to have difficult conversations, work through complex issues, and consider the voices of many different stakeholders. But the rewards are great as you’ll make a real difference to the people you support. You’ll ideally have experience of working in a field-based role supporting multiple operational sites to achieve their potential. Being commercially astute, you’ll have a track record of recognizing business opportunities and working collaboratively to achieve results. Whilst you won’t be delivering care yourself, you’ll be supporting the people that do. You’ll have a passion for both pets and people with demonstrable experience of supporting, coaching, and communicating effectively with your colleagues in order to achieve success. You’ll build and maintain effective relationships that are based on mutual trust. Key Responsibilities: Develop strong relationships with Company Owned practices and their leadership teams, acting as a business coach and consultant to align practice goals with the wider business strategy. Provide clear feedback to key stakeholders, teams, and Support Office colleagues, acting as a role model for our behaviours and values. Communicate effectively in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and deadlines, ensuring timely and clear communication. Identify colleague development opportunities, fostering personal growth, practice performance, and team capability to maximize retention and engagement. Foster key relationships across the wider business to ensure a collaborative 'One Team' approach within the Petcare ecosystem. Support and lead a culture of wellbeing, focusing on colleague mental health and engagement. Coach and guide Practice Leads to successfully manage the practice business. Support the development of business budgets, objectives, and periodic reviews with Practice Leads, focusing on key measurables. Collaborate with Support Office teams and Practice Leads to initiate new ideas and maximize practice/brand presence in the local market. Support Practice Leads in developing team structures aligned with growth proposals and evolving strategic requirements. Act as the conduit in complex colleague matters, providing coaching or taking the lead on situations, drawing on Support Office expertise. Support Practice Leads in embedding company values and behaviours across their teams. Work collaboratively across all Support Office functions and contribute to strategic projects as required. Contribute to the Regional strategy. About You: Coaching skills with a proven ability to adapt approaches to different people and environments. Strong commercial knowledge and proven successful business experience. Experience in helping individuals, leaders, and teams continuously improve their ability to meet client needs. Experience in facilitating the requirements of numerous, multi-site teams. Ability to challenge and address behaviours not aligned with company values. Proven ability to work collaboratively across different functions. Experience of understanding and analysing financial results. Previous experience or exposure to people-related challenges. A high degree of personal impact and influence. A high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, self-awareness, and resilience. An ability to understand situations and establish a solution to the root cause. Being articulate and confident, able to work effectively in challenging situations.
