Network Engineer - Contract position to start ASAP - based in Newport, South Wales. Competitive rate, working 9am to 5pm (Mon to Fri). Benefits include 28 days holiday, on-site parking, discounted canteen, and Pension. Our client is a global manufacturing organisation currently seeking a Network Engineer to join them on a contract basis (for a minimum of 6 months). Working as part of a small team, the Network Engineer will be required to design, implement, maintain, and support a new network infrastructure project. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for designing, deploying, and managing all aspects of the network systems, ensuring high availability and performance. Duties of the Network Engineer will include:

Network Design and Implementation - including installation, configuration, and support of network equipment including routers, switches, SDWAN, OOB Network, and Wireless Network. Network Maintenance and Troubleshooting - Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency) and test for weaknesses. Perform network deployment, maintenance, and system upgrades. Documentation and Reporting - Create, update, and maintain network diagrams and documentation. Qualifications and experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Wireless, SilverPeak, etc.). Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS). Familiarity with access control models and network security. Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Cacti). Strong knowledge of network hardware (Cisco Wired and Wireless devices, SilverPeak, OpenGear). CCNP or higher (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification is a must. Excellent attention to detail. Previous experience in a similar role - ideally related to a specific project/upgrade.
