Full time, permanent opportunity £Negotiable salary (depending on experience) Reporting to the Analytical Services Manager Silver Diversity Mark accredited organisation Make a difference - positively impact future generations through groundbreaking technology, innovation, and science to accelerate progress in climate change, energy, and environmental sustainability Responsibilities: Provide technical direction, support, and advice to the Wastewater and Trade Effluent Laboratory Supervise the development and validation of new and existing methodologies for the chemical examination of wastewaters and related samples Identify and manage the delivery of training needs for staff Plan and prioritise technical projects to ensure the Laboratory meets regulatory requirements Ensure that milestones set within plans are reviewed and met Conduct internal audits of the technical processes as required by the Quality System Make recommendations for continuous improvement Manage risk management activities in line with the requirements of ISO17025:2017 Responsible for the budget of projects Criteria: A 3rd level qualification (HNC, HND, or Degree) in Chemistry or a subject where the study of Chemistry is a major component Two years practical experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited chemistry laboratory Chartered Status (Chemist, Biologist, Scientist, or Quality) or be prepared to achieve full chartered status with a relevant professional body within two years of taking up position Practical working knowledge of water industry chemistry analysis Working knowledge of Wastewater Regulatory compliance Practical knowledge of UKAS procedures and ISO17025/DWTS Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements such as COSHH and risk assessment Demonstrable experience of effectively managing stakeholder relationships Access to a form of transport, which will enable fulfilment of responsibilities The post holder will be required to work flexible hours, work standby/on-call, weekends, and bank holidays when required
