Our client is a standout employer, offering a unique and supportive environment for their team. They are genuinely dedicated to their employees, providing better working conditions than most companies. As part of their growth strategy, they plan to expand their current team of six full-time engineers to 10+ through organic growth, ensuring the right projects are prioritized while maintaining their strong company culture. The firm handles a diverse range of projects, from £100k to £20m, with all team members engaged in every stage—from winning the project to its completion. They are currently looking to hire a Senior Structural Engineer in the Midlands. The ideal candidate will have:

A minimum of 5 years' experience in the following sectors:

Domestic Residential Commercial Education

Desirable skills and experience include:

Experience working on smaller projects (under £1m), particularly in refurbishment, which is the core focus of the business. Chartered status or close to achieving it, with the ability to independently conduct site visits and manage basic design tasks autonomously. A strong background in designing with steel, concrete, masonry, and timber; expertise in timber or concrete is a bonus. Proficiency in Tekla structural design and Robot software is highly advantageous. An interest in business development, including generating new business, writing proposals, and approaching potential clients. In addition, the firm offers a flexible work arrangement with up to 3-5 days of remote working per week, ensuring a healthier work-life balance than most employers. However, this flexibility requires self-motivation and proactive engagement. Strong communication skills are crucial as most team interactions are conducted via Teams or phone calls. As part of a two-person team in the Midlands, you’ll also collaborate with a larger team of four based in London. Despite the geographical distance, the remote-working culture ensures a close-knit atmosphere, with regular social events such as a two-day trip to a private lake in the Cotswolds last summer. Although you may initially work on projects across both the Midlands and London, your primary focus will be on Midlands-based projects. The Midlands team currently works together in a flexible office space in the Jewellery Quarter once a week, and this arrangement is expected to continue. In return, the firm offers:

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 Contractual bonus + work-winning bonus Paid overtime 25 days annual leave (increasing by one day per year of service) Private healthcare
