Head Medical is seeking a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry

who would offer outstanding clinical leadership and clinical care for the patients admitted to the functional ward. Working for one of the largest NHS mental health trusts in the country, serving a population of over one million people in Nottinghamshire, this is an exciting time to come and join the medical workforce and have the opportunity to shape the provision of care to patients within the community. This vacancy was created to fill a replacement inpatient post suitable for an Old-Age Psychiatry colleague who will assume responsibility for diagnosing and treating patients admitted to functional inpatient wards. This is a 10 PA (SPA 2.5) post based on Cherry Ward, a 20-bed mixed-sex functional ward. The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide clinical and medical leadership to the MDT and will lead the assessment and treatment of patients under their care. The post holder, alongside an MPAC (multi-professional approved clinician) and the other inpatient consultant, will share the responsibility for the inpatients. This is an NHS trust that encourages flexible working and candidates who wish to work less than full-time are encouraged to apply. A Higher Trainee finishing the final six months of training and preparing for CCT can also apply. What's on offer? A competitive basic salary of £105,504 - £139,882 per annum. Consultants share an on-call rota (currently on a 1 in 8 basis) - remunerated at a rate of 2%. Strong NHS pension. An RRP of 20% of the minimum point of the National Consultant (2003) contract will be paid for this post. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is highly valued within the Trust. The directorate has a system of peer group supervision / CPD and supporting activity sessions are included in each Consultant’s job plan to support this. In addition, appropriate study leave will be supported and there is a notional annual budget of up to £1,000 per Consultant for approved CPD activities. Cycle to work scheme. Blue light discounts. Requirements to apply: CCT in Old Age and AC status. MRCPsych, section 12 approval and significant old age psychiatry experience.
