Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust (SFHT) for an ENT / H&NC Speech and Language Therapy Service Lead. The successful candidate will lead, organise and deliver a highly specialist service to Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust for inpatients and outpatients and develop, provide and participate in the training and support of other professionals working within the specialist client groups. Ideally the successful candidate will be highly skilled in managing voice, head and neck cancer and adults with dysphagia of ENT origin and be trained in FEES/VFSS/SVR techniques. Qualifications/Academic Essential BSc Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent Appropriate HCPC registration Post graduate clinical qualification or equivalent experience at Masters level Evidenced continuing professional development Contractual Essential Use of a vehicle to travel between locations as a significant part of the role. Ability to act up for the head of service in their absence Knowledge / Skills Essential Knowledge of local and national NHS policy. Highly specialist theoretical and practical knowledge of clinical specialism Knowledge of professional issues and standards Knowledge of HCPC registration requirements Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of service users Skilled in the use of specialist assessment, diagnostic and treatment interventions relevant to the clinical pathway (videofluoscopy clinics, FEES and SVR techniques) Ability to manage conflict and negotiate resolution Ability to analyse complex issues. Ability to demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving and decision making. Excellent numeric skills and the ability to analyse data and budgets. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex, sensitive issues to large diverse audiences. Ability to plan Ability to represent the service in formal arenas. Ability to effectively convene and chair meetings.
