As Senior Journalist, you will help inspire, guide and challenge our team of Journalists who produce content for local, regional, national and international audiences. You may also be required to carry out subbing (ensuring our stories are accurate, fair, balanced, concise and well-written). Are you the right candidate?

Our ideal candidate will be a creative, experienced, highly-motivated journalist who is confident in daily news and curious about the world around them. You might have already gained experience as a news editor and sub-editor and thrive under considerable pressure. You will have the people skills to be able to support and challenge reporters of varying levels of experience and skill and help to get the best out of them. You’ll be able to demonstrate your knowledge of social media both as a newsgathering tool and to effectively promote our content. Your news judgement is excellent and you have a solid current knowledge of media law and the BBC’s Editorial guidelines. You want to break stories and have a track record of original, agenda-setting journalism. You recognise that the BBC is an audience-focused business and keep in mind that we should be serving all communities within our region. About the BBC
