We are looking for a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, or Counselling Psychologist or Systemic Family Therapist, for the West Norfolk Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team. This is a substantive post funded at 15 hours (i.e., 0.40wte) per week.

This role would suit those planning to split NHS and private work, or for those with a part-time role in another service or organisation. Additional working hours might be available following the recruitment process for another Psychology post in the service. Interested candidates are encouraged to discuss their preferences and needs prior to applying for the post.

Candidates who are trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis and Bipolar (CBT PB) or Systemic Family Therapy are encouraged to apply. Training in Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT) is desirable. In-house training is available for BFT if required.

Soon to be qualified psychologists, and Systemic Family Therapists in training, are encouraged to apply. For newly qualified candidates, there will be support to achieve individual aims and goals using the Trust preceptorship programme. Please note that those exiting training programmes will be placed on Band 7 whilst completing preceptorship and Band 8a will be awarded once this is complete.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will provide psychological assessment and treatment for people with psychosis and their families and carers. The post holder will form an integral part of the West Norfolk EIP multi-disciplinary team. Job planning will be completed with the successful candidate to ensure that they are able to work safely and competently in accordance with professional guidelines.

About us

The West Norfolk EIP Team is the smallest of the three teams in the Norfolk and Waveney EIP Service. It has a cohesive and friendly culture and staff have a wide range of skills and experience. Many team members have worked in EIP or with people with psychosis and bipolar for several years. The team are based at Chatterton House in King's Lynn, where there is ample parking and clinical space. Chatterton House is approximately 10-15 minutes from the train station and town centre and is easily accessible from the A47 if travelling by car.

The Norfolk and Waveney EIP Service has undergone significant expansion over the last eight years following funding from NHS England for the Access and Waiting Time Standard. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with other colleagues across the service, including psychologists and therapists.

We are a research active service with regular opportunities to get involved in national and local projects. The service has links with the University of East Anglia (UEA) Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and the UEA Special Interest Group for Psychosis.

Qualifications

Essential

Post-graduate degree (or its equivalent if trained prior to 1996) in Clinical Psychology, accredited by BPS Ongoing further specialist training/accredited short courses Supervisor training, to be a supervisor of doctoral programme Clinical Psychology trainees or willing to undertake training Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable

Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice Theory and practice of specialised psychological interventions (assessment and/or therapist)

Experience

Essential

Experience working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist (Band 7) and able to evidence appropriate knowledge and experience in practice to enable the post holder to clinically supervise trainee Clinical Psychologist Experience of working with a wide variety and severity of client groups & clinical problems, in various settings, including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems Experience of working with a range of complex and challenging behaviours and exercising full clinical responsibility for psychological treatment Experience of supervision and teaching

Desirable

Experience of representing Psychology within MDT setting (clinical and organisational contexts) Experience of clinical work in a setting relevant to the post

Skills

Essential

Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management Well-developed communications skills (oral and written) Able to effectively communicate technical and clinically sensitive information to service users, families, carers and other professionals, within and outside NHS Skills in consultation to professional and non-professional groups Skills in training and supervision Skills in creating and delivering presentations and training programmes Skills in neuropsychological assessment

Knowledge

Essential

Doctor level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis Knowledge of mental health legislation within specialist clinical context Evidence of CPD as recommended by BPS
