An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced senior nurse to lead the Shand Nursing Team at Bedford Hospital. We are looking for a reliable, motivated and enthusiastic Ward Manager to manage our Stroke ward. A proven track record in managing change and leading teams through change is essential. The individual will be required to provide clinical leadership and direction to the ward team. The successful candidate should be a team player, communicator and a good administrator with clinical governance and management experience. The applicant will have energy, commitment and the desire to develop nurses in this particular area of healthcare. The role involves managerial activity and clinical input ensuring that high quality standards are set out and to maintain a high standard of holistic, quality care within a multi-disciplinary setting. The applicant will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to sensitively manage change. The individual will also need to provide evidence of continuous professional development. Main duties of the job Develop Nursing professional practice skills and competencies in the area of responsibility. Provide supervision of nursing and support staff. Maintain local professional policies ensuring the reflection of best practice. Ensure the maintenance of an environment in which patients' nursing needs can be assessed, plans developed, implemented and evaluated in a holistic manner. Apply health promoting principles for patients and staff. Person specification Qualifications NMC registered MSPP/ENB998 or equivalent Evidence of ongoing development and learning Educated to degree level MSPP or equivalent Knowledge Ability to facilitate and support learning Understanding of NHS employee policy & procedure Personal skills Organisational ability Demonstrate ability to think creatively and laterally Negotiation skills Experience Significant experience at Deputy level in a relevant clinical setting or equivalent Experience in mentoring, assessing, coaching Leadership management, leading a team Experience of change management and standard setting Completion of management qualification Ability to organise and prioritise/time management You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
