Assistant Quantity Surveyor Apprenticeship The Apprentice Assistant Quantity Surveyor role is an opportunity to learn from our experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in all aspects of commercial management. You will assist the commercial team in the day-to-day management and control of all commercial elements of the business. The Apprentice Assistant QS will be working towards a HNC or Degree qualification. The location of college/University will be agreed between the employer and student. Work to and within the company Integrated Management System, company policies & procedures. Support delivery of Health and Safety policy and standards. Liaise with subcontractors and other key stakeholders. Liaise & build strong relationships with other departments as required to resolve issues & queries. Maintain regular communication with all internal departments, in particular the Contracts & Estimating Department. Preparation of valuations and Applications for Payment under the direction of the Managing Quantity Surveyor and Senior members of the Commercial team. Manage a variety of tasks and be able to plan accordingly. Discuss and develop procurement strategy. Assist with the selection and monitoring of sub-contractors. Assist with cost control and value management. Assist with the valuation of subcontract accounts. Assist in the development of project forecasts and budgets. Assist with the completion of CVR reports. Assist in other Quantity Surveying related tasks as required. Skills & Knowledge A growing appreciation of different types of contracts – NEC3/4, JCT, ICC. A growing appreciation of tendering & procurement processes. Experience An understanding of Dispute resolution (desirable). Understanding of CVR’s & financial reports (desirable). Technology Skills IT Microsoft Office skills - Evision, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Training Full driving licence. NEC3,4, ECC, ICE & JCT full contract awareness (desirable). Qualifications A Levels or T-Level. A desire to make a career in Quantity Surveying including professional qualifications.
