Children, Education and Justice Services Justice Worker - Court Social Work Team Edinburgh Sheriff Court Edinburgh Justice Services are committed to providing high quality services and ensuring a compassionate approach to people who use our services, and to supporting staff wellbeing. We offer a high level of training to support continuous professional development and to deliver a broad range of interventions, including established, accredited, group work programmes. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the Court Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for people looking to work within a professional, dedicated and supportive team and service. Justice Workers support people who are in contact with Edinburgh Justice Services on a statutory or voluntary basis. The post holders will be contributing to providing interventions designed to reduce reoffending, vulnerability and harm and to support desistance and wellbeing, within a trauma-informed care approach. The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues within and out with Justice services in line with relevant legislation, public protection and other national and departmental policy and procedures. Specific tasks include: Undertaking assessments in relation to Bail Supervision (Court team) Undertaking welfare checks with people appearing from custody Liaising with partner agencies e.g., housing, mental health and substance use services To be considered for this post you should have HNC in Social Care or equivalent, and extensive experience of working in care or justice settings. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
