An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment or fixed term contract band 6 Clinical Lead to work within Mental Health Service For Older Persons on Rowan Lea, Cross Lane hospital. The successful candidate will be highly motivated individuals who hold a current professional registration with the NMC. You will be professionally accountable and responsible for the delivery of clinical care within the ward team with the focus on positive behavioural support to patients.

This exciting and challenging role will afford the opportunity for a nurse to gain experience working in a senior role on an inpatient unit, developing skills and experience that will support future career progression. The successful candidate will work within a supportive team that is focused on delivering high standards of care through evidenced based practice. You will be an important key member of the multidisciplinary leadership team, ensuring the overall aims and purpose of the ward are clear and that patient safety is paramount.

Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be working with patients within our 20 bedded older persons ward, working with males and females, with organic and functional illness and their families, and carers. You will help to provide clinical leadership and maintain a positive and open culture within the team. The successful candidate should be passionate about delivering person centered care, have skills in identifying strategies and plans for future care, maximizing individual's strengths and minimizing the impact of their needs on their daily lives.

You will need excellent communication skills and be calm, confident and resilient in your approach. You will need to be able to form therapeutic relationships with people with mental health needs and their families/carers. You will be joining a team of highly skilled and committed individuals and will become a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council. RMNH/RNLD Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months. Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months

Experience Essential 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework. Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers. Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate. Supervising or assessing students on practice placement. Working in a multi-disciplinary team. Quality improvement activities.

Knowledge Essential Demonstrable knowledge to post-graduate level of evidence-based practice in caring for patients in the designated field. Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act). Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice. Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice. Clinical Governance and its application in practice. Research and development methodology. Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment. Working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections.
