Job Title : Senior Highway Engineer (Development Management)
Location : Chelmsford
Salary : £42,679 to £50,211 per annum
Employment Type : Permanent, Full-Time
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to manage developer-funded highway infrastructure projects as part of the Highways Integrated Services contract. You will ensure designs and constructions meet Highway Authority standards for adoption as public highways.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee highway works to ensure compliance with planning obligations and policies.
Manage budgets, schedules, and quality for projects.
Lead consultations with Local Planning Authorities and ensure legal agreements are in place.
Provide technical direction to team members and liaise with stakeholders.
Offer advice on highway-related matters to Councillors, District Members, and the public.
Skills and Experience
Degree or equivalent experience in highways/transportation.
Extensive knowledge of Highway legislation (Highway Act 1980, CDM 2015) and Health & Safety.
Project management experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
