Our client, based in Colchester,is currently seeking a motivated and skilled Production Engineer / DFM Engineer to support their strategic defence contracts and contribute to the growth and development of theirengineering solutions. Day-to-day of the role: Production Planning and Optimisation: Develop and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity and reduce waste. Analyse workflow and identify opportunities for process automation or simplification. Process and Equipment Management: Manage and maintain production equipment to ensure optimal functionality and minimise downtime. Assist in the procurement and commissioning of new equipment or technology. Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives, such as Six Sigma or Kaizen, to enhance operational efficiency. Implement process controls and quality assurance measures. Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Investigate and resolve production issues to prevent reoccurrence. Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production efficiency, cost, and quality. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management. Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to workplace safety standards and procedures. Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures. Team Collaboration and Training: Work closely with design, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of production activities. Provide technical training to production staff and support skill development. Required Skills & Qualifications: Demonstrable experience in working on development and delivery projects. Excellent stakeholder management at all levels. Knowledge of software and programming is advantageous. HNC/Degree in an Engineering Discipline. Knowledge of engineering tools (e.g., SolidWorks). Strong communication, negotiation, and diplomacy skills. High level analytical abilities and excellent persuasion and presentation skills. Pro-active self-starter, capable of working on own initiative. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work at all levels of the organisation.
