Description of Duties

The Hull Food Partnership is an initiative hosted by Hull CVS, whose aims are to make Hull a Sustainable Food Place. Our team works alongside the community, policy makers, city leaders, businesses, local food producers, community organisers, public sector workers, citizens, and volunteers to change and influence our food environment for a sustainable future for everyone. Please note this is a 2-year fixed term or secondment opportunity. We are looking for an exceptional individual to join us as a Community Food Support Officer to help map the current food provision within Hull and to improve the offering to become more sustainable and enable struggling households to move from the point of needing emergency food provision to more dignified and affordable alternatives. The post holder will work alongside the existing Development Officer and Campaigns & Projects Officer to strengthen community food provision in Hull with greater access to healthy and nutritious food that is fairly sourced and affordable to people living in the city. As part of the Hull Food Strategy Food Poverty Action Plan implementation, the main responsibilities of the role will be to: Set up and maintain a bulk food purchasing system for local community food organisations, with a view to developing a food buying co-operative in Hull that will lead on this over time. Develop the successful expansion and roll-out of the Food Exchange Platform by sourcing local food growers and community food organisations, supporting them to use the platform and test new functionality to ensure accessibility and usability for all. The post-holder will also contribute to national and local food policy work and research, coordinate events with key stakeholders, and help Hull achieve the Sustainable Food Places Silver Award. About Us Hull CVS is a registered charity, established over 40 years ago to support local charities and causes. We are at the forefront of sector development, community empowerment, and volunteering initiatives in Hull. Through our subsidiary, Meeting New Horizons, we extend our reach across the wider Yorkshire and Humber region, ensuring that our community projects positively impact more lives. At our core, we aim to empower local communities by supporting wider Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations; by mobilising the power of volunteering; and by giving people a greater voice in the services they use. We believe in building community resilience and fostering a culture of support and collaboration. When you join our team, you’re not just an employee – you become part of a community where everyone is passionate about making a difference. We prioritise creating an environment where our staff not only care for our beneficiaries but also support each other. We understand the importance of investing in our employees’ growth and development. Our focus is not just on what you can currently do, but also on helping you reach your full potential. We encourage all interested individuals to apply and join us in our mission to create positive change in our communities. What we offer: 25 days holiday pro rata plus public holidays, with an additional 3 days to be taken over Christmas after 1 year’s service. 35 hours is our full-time working week – offering excellent work-life balance.
