This is a developmental role, although applicants with experience will be considered for the post. Grade will be determined according to expertise. With training and supervision, the individual will develop the ability to use their clinical expertise and judgement to enable delivery and co-ordination of both routine and complex care to meet the needs of the patient. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care, advice, and support to patients affected by Parkinson's disease within Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Although sitting within the acute trust, the post holder will have functional links with all stakeholders, e.g. patients, GP practices, multidisciplinary teams, hospital departments, community services, and voluntary groups. The key focus of this post will be on idiopathic Parkinson's disease and related Parkinsonian disorders. Main duties of the job
In this role you will deliver individualised patient care for people living with Parkinson's Disease at all stages of the disease trajectory, involving other members of the multidisciplinary team in both the hospital and community setting, to ensure robust specialist input and support. Maintain shared care links with Centres of Excellence, i.e.: The Royal London Hospital, and UCL Queens Square London. Provide specialist advice, demonstrating a sound knowledge of the issues related to the identification, ongoing assessment, treatment, and management of this clinical group, particularly those with complex needs.
