We perform research, mathematical modeling, software development, and design to manage risks to life safety in military platforms and installations, ships and submarines, critical infrastructure, tall buildings, public facilities, industrial and petrochemical plants, and automotive and airborne vehicles. Engineer Intern
to join our Applied Science team over the summer at our Warrington office.
Responsibilities The candidate’s main responsibilities will be focused on R&D activities and they will be expected to undertake tasks in fluid dynamics and technical safety, examples including: Research into multicomponent fuel evaporation modelling, with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Using research and modelling to perform validation of in-house simulation tools. In-house software development. Data handling and visualisation. There will also be opportunities to contribute to project work as part of a project team, activities including: Risk and safety studies. Modelling hazards (e.g. fires, explosions or gas releases) using numerical / computational techniques. Updating internal library / databases and guidance documents based on current practice and standards. Qualifications Currently in penultimate year of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Aerospace/Chemical/Process Engineering (or similar Science or Engineering degrees). Interest in fluid dynamics / computational modelling. Programming skills, ideally in Python 3, though candidates with some limited programming experience from their undergraduate studies will also be considered. Good academic record.
