Engineer Intern

to join our Applied Science team over the summer at our Warrington office.

Responsibilities The candidate’s main responsibilities will be focused on R&D activities and they will be expected to undertake tasks in fluid dynamics and technical safety, examples including: Research into multicomponent fuel evaporation modelling, with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Using research and modelling to perform validation of in-house simulation tools. In-house software development. Data handling and visualisation. There will also be opportunities to contribute to project work as part of a project team, activities including: Risk and safety studies. Modelling hazards (e.g. fires, explosions or gas releases) using numerical / computational techniques. Updating internal library / databases and guidance documents based on current practice and standards. Qualifications Currently in penultimate year of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Aerospace/Chemical/Process Engineering (or similar Science or Engineering degrees). Interest in fluid dynamics / computational modelling. Programming skills, ideally in Python 3, though candidates with some limited programming experience from their undergraduate studies will also be considered. Good academic record.
