Carmichael UK are seeking a competent Section Engineer to join the Devonport Docks project in Plymouth on a long-term basis. Due to the site being a high-security Military Naval base, additional security checks will need to be made. BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role. As a Section Engineer, you will be responsible for the following: Manage the preparation of as-built drawings. Establish effective systems to record work completed, updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly. Manage systems to enable the progress of work to be reviewed against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity. Assist in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, i.e., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork, etc. Provide engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered. Responsible for setting out works constructed within allowable tolerances. Regularly check the setting out points and benchmarks, ensuring all setting out instruments and measuring equipment are delivered to site with a calibration certificate and recorded accordingly. Ensure the workforce understands that setting out information has been identified as suitable for the type of work being carried out. Manage the preparation of sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels are in place for effective understanding. Responsible for providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control to ensure accurate construction of the work. Record instructions. Maintain the drawing register. Who are we looking for? Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable (one or more of: BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship). SSSTS certification. CSCS White PQP/AQP. May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE, or other appropriate professional body. Experience in a similar role. Lodge allowance paid if you qualify.
