Main duties of the job The Medicine for Older People department at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a senior nurse interested in making the progression into a leadership position. We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual, with a passion for the care of the elderly patient, for service improvement, and for staff development and well being. We are a care group with a strong emphasis on delivering quality, patient centred care, with an emphasis on a MDT approach and collaborative working. Qualifications, knowledge, and experience Essential 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor Degree or working towards Completion of appropriate specialty Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice. Extensive experience in specialty to include considerable experience at Band 6 level Evidence of clinical leadership ability Proven management experience Evidence of continuing professional development Evidence of utilising evidence in practice Expert clinical skills Logical and consistent career pattern Ability to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives Ability to work flexible hours and fulfil service requirements

Desirable Management Course (or equivalent) Experience as an NMC sign off mentor or clinical practice assessor Evidence of staff development and succession planning Broad range of post registration experience Experience of report writing
