Essential Duties: Supervises and assists in all aspects of the referral and admission process Insures clinical appropriateness of all patients admitted Collaborates with the appropriate clinicians to render a definitive clinical decision to Medical Care Evaluators when required. Ensures insurance pre-authorization requirements are met on all patients admitted Assists in the prioritization of referral assignments to Medical Care Evaluators Provides potential patients and referral sources with accurate information updates regarding the hospital rehabilitation services. Collaborates with nursing for appropriate bed assignment of patients. Demonstrates the ability to complete pre-admission assessments on potential candidates for admission and render definitive clinical decisions. Determines if patient meets criteria for admission and is likely to benefit significantly from an intense hospital level rehabilitation program in accordance with established payer guidelines. Ensures appropriate documentation is provided to support all Medicare payer admissions. Demonstrates working knowledge of LTACH and IRF level of care. Demonstrates accurate FIM scoring for managed care referrals. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions. Prerequisites: RN with current Massachusetts license, BSN preferred; or LPN with 5+ years clinical experience. Knowledge of all aspects of the admission process, including insurance verification and pre-certification. Ability to coordinate, manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computer, copy machines, scanners, etc. Possess a high regard for confidentiality Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
