Care Assistant for a young person P/T @ £13.09/hr in Hexham - FTE - £25.5k - Hexham - NE46
To provide support for a 7-year-old female child with a diagnosis of Autism.
Main Duties
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Support Worker to provide support for this child to enable her to access age-appropriate leisure activities in the local community. She has difficulty accessing any group and social settings due to her sensory needs which can impact upon her behaviour. Adult support is required at all times to keep her safe in the community. It is hoped that by accessing activities with her Support Worker it will provide an opportunity for her to improve her behaviours and also learn how to interact safely with others. Some of her favourite activities include swimming, soft play, trampolines, drawing pictures and she loves going to the park. She loves cats but is afraid of dogs.
Hours:
4 hours per week, flexibility on which day the support takes place, and this will be discussed with applicants interested in the position.
Rate of pay:
£13.09 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata. Out of pocket expenses will be met by the employer, e.g. mileage to and from home and activities; and cost of activities agreed in advance with employer. ILG PA Employee Assistance Programme – this will be purchased by your employer after you have completed 6 weeks of employment.
Person Specification:
have experience and a positive understanding of working with children who have disabilities have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs be able to respond positively, confidently and sensitively to any changes in behaviour have a high degree of initiative be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised be flexible and have a happy, positive, and caring nature respect confidentiality
An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
Car driver required and must have business insurance.
