An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Medical Secretary to support a Consultant surgeon in the Directorate of General Surgery. You will be an integral part of the team acting as a direct link between patients and surgeons as well as being responsible for managing clinicians' day-to-day clinical timetables and commitments. Applicants must have excellent organisational skills, be extremely efficient, and be able to work under pressure as part of a large team and to tight deadlines. You must be able to prioritise and manage a busy workload and be committed to delivering the best care to patients. AMSPAR Diploma or OCR/RSA level 3 or equivalent are desirable but not essential; however, you must have experience of working in a medical secretarial role or significant administration experience. A sound knowledge of medical terminology is desirable, and the ability to demonstrate good audio typing skills is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (including Outlook and Excel) is essential. Please note the Trust is not able to offer Skilled Worker Sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the UKVI threshold requirements. Main duties will be to support the consultant surgeon by organising their day-to-day clinical activities and commitments and being the direct link between the consultant and patients. Some of the main duties include booking theatre lists, typing of clinics and attention work, actioning notices, and validation. Job responsibilities

To provide a competent secretarial service to the Consultant and his/her team, making decisions and taking action on matters of a non-routine nature on their behalf. To ensure that all clerical and secretarial functions pertaining to the Department are carried out in an efficient and cost-effective manner according to Trust Secretarial standards, local and national standards. To ensure Meditech V6 is accessed and utilised in a manner appropriate to the service, working in real time. To maintain a waiting list position that meets national and local standards and CQUIN. To assure the Directorate Management team of a valid and contemporaneous waiting list position that meets national waiting time requirements. Person Specification

AMSPAR Diploma or OCR/RSA3/NVQ 3 Business Administration or significant administration/secretarial experience. Basic Numeracy Skills to Level 1 or equivalent. GCSE English (Grade 4 - 9) or equivalent. ECDL / IBT2. Experience

Experience of working in a busy office environment. Previous NHS experience. Previous medical secretarial experience. Experience in audio typing. Experience using Meditech. Personal Qualities

Able to work under pressure. Able to meet deadlines and prioritise workload. Use initiative to problem solve. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Employer name
