asap to 5th August 2025 NNUH is the largest teaching partner of the UEA Norwich Medical School. The Trust provides approximately 25,000 student days of secondary care placement teaching every year and hosts most of the School's OSCEs. This role is to start as soon as possible to 5th August 2025 working 20 hours per week and is employed by the trust and not by the university. The integration of learning around patient presentations - rather than by individual discipline or speciality (e.g. anatomy, cardiology). System-based modules, 15 in all, including the two elective periods. Pre-determined learning outcomes that are shared with students. The regular use of clinical settings to link theory with practice. Students have clinical contact from the outset of the programme. The use of primary care as a core setting showing the patient's main experience of care, the range of common conditions, and normal variations in health. Student-centred learning. Reflective practice as a core learning component. Group work as preparation for team working, with specific learning in multidisciplinary groups. A strong emphasis on basic research skills and critical appraisal of literatures in both social and biological sciences. Main duties of the job Delivery of Clinical Skills Teaching Programme Supporting the clinical skills director in all aspects of managing, developing and supervising the teaching of clinical skills teaching. Delivering some appropriate clinical skills training in liaison with clinical skills team and relevant module teams. This is mainly small or very small group teaching and may include teaching such as: technical skills e.g. cannulation simulation teaching using SIMMAN prescribing skills teaching case presentation/clinical reasoning teaching structured patient teaching inter-professional clinical skills training remedial/revision skills support for students resitting OSCEs. Although the role is predominantly for the NNUH placement undergraduate medical students, there will be some campus-based activities that may be expected to be delivered. Assess at OSCEs for MBBS students Assist as requested with OSCE planning and question generation. Assist, when requested, in generating written questions in conjunction with clinical teams. Other smaller roles that might be included depending on appointee's interests and availability include: Lecturing/seminar delivery. Student admissions interviewing. Educational teaching fellows are encouraged to undertake professional development in the educational field including attending courses and undertaking further qualifications. Half of the study leave should be allocated towards this and remaining study leave should be used for developing clinical skills. There are appropriate opportunities for free CPD sessions either in UEA or as part of CPD training for tutors in NNUH (4 sessions a year). They are expected to attend at least 2 events per year of the NNUH CPD sessions. It is expected that an educational appraisal of the fellows should be conducted by either clinical skills director or Clinical Sub dean. It is expected that they will have regular meetings with both. The interviews will be held via Teams. Person Specification Education, Qualification, and experience Essential Primary Medical qualification MBBS or equivalent Registration and Licence to practice with the GMC Demonstrable clinical experience with successful ARCPs and/or progression Experience of healthcare in the NHS Experience of medical student/paramedical teaching Attended educational courses demonstrating CME in education Desirable Medical Qualification in UK medical School Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Diploma, Masters or postgraduate medical qualification) Teaching commendations or awards or other evidence of excellence in teaching or learning Research in Education Experience in participation and/or delivery of Simulation Skills and knowledge Essential Excellent communication skills. Good organisational and leadership skills. Strong inter-personal skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within and across teams. Understanding of the professional context of medical practice. Desirable Educational skills including: ward-based teaching clinical skill teaching Seminar leadership or lecturing experience Undergraduate Assessment experience e.g. Objective Structured Clinical examinations (OSCEs) or written assessment Understands delivery of quality medical education and ready to participate in quality and governance activities Personal attributes Essential Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people Flexible, self-challenging, and able to cope with change.
