About the Role: Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the design and delivery of highway public realm improvements, active travel projects, and traffic calming/casualty reduction schemes to support Wandsworth's transport initiatives. You will also work on Section 106 and 278 projects, drainage, and Sustainable Drainage Systems projects to safeguard the Council's highways interest and reduce the risk of surface water flooding. Engineering Knowledge and Experience:
You must demonstrate appropriate theoretical and practical methods for analyzing and solving engineering problems. You will support Principal Engineers on relevant service and operational matters. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure design standards/best practices are followed, and compliance with all health and safety requirements such as the Construction Design and Management Regulations. Technical and Commercial Leadership:
Demonstrate effective project implementation, including planning, budgeting, organizing, directing, and controlling tasks, people, and resources. Use your program and contract management skills for excellent budgetary and financial management. Effective Interpersonal Skills:
Ensure all member and general inquiries about service delivery are dealt with promptly and effectively. This includes attending public meetings to engage with residents and businesses and explaining engineering proposals in a non-technical manner. Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: Qualifications:
Sound theoretical and practical highway/traffic engineering application demonstrated via a professional qualification or equivalent, or working towards such qualification. Knowledge:
Working knowledge of highways, street works, and relevant legislations such as health and safety requirements. Proven Experience:
In delivering highway projects. Commercially Astute:
Ability to manage projects efficiently. IT Skills:
Good IT skills, including the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft packages. This role is ideal for a highways engineer who wishes to take on additional technical and management responsibilities. Closing Date:
