This post is an exciting fixed term or secondment opportunity for a Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Allied Health Professional (NMAHP) to work at consultant level as a Clinical Academic in partnership between Teesside University and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust. The post holder will have a current registration as a Nurse, Midwife or Allied Health Professional in their specialist area, and have experience of taking part in, carrying out and writing up research. The successful post holder will develop the Trust/University partnership. The focus of research activity will align with the recently awarded NIHR Mental Health Leaders Award, and research relating to integrating physical, mental health and social care research, whilst providing scope for individuals to bring their own related research areas.

Main duties of the job The successful applicant will have a relevant degree, or equivalent NMAHP qualification. They will have undertaken advanced training in the theory and practice relevant to their specialist field, and the job roles and responsibilities, to at least master's level, with a commitment to achieving a doctorate level qualification. They will also have extensive experience working in a mental health Trust. They will work alongside existing roles, to lead and co-ordinate the research and development activity for NMAHP professionals, working with service users in conjunction with the profession-specific Directors, Senior Clinical Academic, Head of Research, Clinical Director for Research and Development and other key partners.

About us The Clinical Academic NMAHP will be based in the Therapies Directorate, with relevant professional clinical supervision. The post holder will be required to spend time at the Teesside University campus with the research team, and to work in other locations in the Tees Valley area and at other partner and stakeholder sites to conduct consultation work as required. Some work can be conducted remotely.

In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Experience Essential Extensive experience working in a Mental Health Trust Experience of taking part in, carrying out and writing up research Experience of service development and operational management

Knowledge Essential Evidence of ongoing CPD and the understanding and implementation of evidence-based practice. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the structure, related priorities, policies and functioning of the NHS and Social Care and related agencies.

Skills Essential Clinical supervision skills to supervise and support the work of other NMAHPs, in a specialist area. Highly developed auditory, perceptual and sensory skills for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of clients. Standard keyboard skills.
