Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine

·
Part time
Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth has a reputation for innovation and excellence, consistently delivering outstanding performance, whilst developing the skills and abilities of our staff. We are delighted to have recently been rated “GOOD” overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine to join our existing well-established team at an exciting time in our service evolution. This replacement post provides an opportunity for a committed and flexible individual to work closely with the other 2 Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine in influencing service developments and to improve and strengthen rehabilitation services in Portsmouth and wider networks. Rehabilitation Medicine services in Portsmouth include specialist inpatient beds at the Lotus Rehabilitation Centre (UKROC 2a), which opened in a bespoke modular unit with access to outdoor rehabilitation garden space, and the regional Prosthetic Service with outpatient Neurorehab clinics at the Portsmouth Enablement Centre. The service is linked to the Acute Neuro Team outreach/liaison service across the acute trust, as well as to national and regional networks including the Wessex Trauma Network. Opportunities also exist to collaborate academically and educationally with the University of Portsmouth and King’s College in delivering the newly established Medical Degree Programme. The post will combine specialist Neurorehabilitation inpatient and outpatient services, and outreach working with the Acute Neuro Team and MDT Prosthetic clinics.

We would welcome applications from those wishing to work on a full or part-time basis. We seek to support flexible working patterns where possible. This post would equally suit someone who is established as a Consultant but also those early in their career with ready support and mentorship available. For further details, please contact Zoe Hemsley OPM, Stroke and Rehabilitation Care Group Director on 02392 286958 or Dr Mike Homer-Ward on 02392 286941.
