The CA is undergoing some exciting changes at the moment, with Single Settlement changing the way we work; expertly managing finances has never been more important. We're looking for an Accounting Technician to join our team and help provide sound financial advice to our stakeholders and assist in the delivery of day-to-day finance and accounting activities across the West Midlands Combined Authority. Due to the various funding streams the CA has, it would be beneficial if someone had experience within education accounting or a familiarity with public sector accounting, but this is not essential. Please note this is a 2 year fixed term contract. What you will be doing:

Provide high-quality financial administration services within the Accounting Pool. Ensure that financial transactions are recorded accurately in the Finance system. Provide efficient month-end accounting activities in line with strict deadlines and WMCA Financial Regulations. Assist in efficient and effective quarterly forecasting activities. Assist in the development of robust annual budget proposals and associated commentary. Ensure clear guidance is communicated to key stakeholders in a timely manner. Represent the Finance team at meetings with stakeholders. Liaise with external/internal auditors to support the effective completion of the annual audit process. Complete effective reconciliation processes. Assist with considering the financial implications of new initiatives and service changes. Assist with documenting Finance processes and procedures. Any other duties as requested by the Management Accountant. What's essential:

AAT qualified/membership. Experience in management of financial resources and providing financial advice/support to budget holders. Evidence of working proactively with colleagues across the finance function and supporting multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge and understanding of financial management issues. Proficient in MS packages. Stakeholder management skills. How to apply:
